Vacuum cleaners with a hose attachment are good for cleaning your carpet's perimeter, mattresses, box springs and furniture seams. The contents should be emptied into sealed bags and discarded. These treatments should be a temporary means to control bed bugs.


If you home is infested, it is always best to call in a professional exterminator to solve the problem. Exterminators use a variety of spray and dust insecticides to treat bed bug infestations. The chemicals are put down in areas where bed bugs are known to hide such as furniture, mattresses, cracks, crevices and carpeting. Repeated treatments will usually keep bed bugs at bay.
